A Keto Diet is well known for being a low carb diet where the body produces ketones in the liver which are used as energy, this diet runs your body on fat. Before deciding to put your child on this diet plan there are many things you must know. I also thought about putting my son on this diet for reducing his weight but had to drop the plan because the diet has a few negatives too:

The main reason why many people quit doing keto diet is that it causes digestive issues. This diet brings gastrointestinal problems with it, discouraging many to leave it in. A keto diet can lead to gastric issues if you do not consume the required roughage content!

According to studies, it has been seen that a Keto diet may affect a child’s skeletal development and is said that the bones become more prone to fractures.

Small children are advised not to be given to a Keto diet as it has the possibility of causing acute pancreatic in children and thus has raised alarm over the health of kids following it as the diet may cause sudden inflammation of the pancreas.

Though this sounds scary, but in a recent study, one of twenty children who follow ketogenic diet have kidney stone issues.

Putting child on a ketogenic diet means monitoring the nutrients needs as children needs are higher than adults.
