What is premature birth?

A normal pregnancy lasts up to 40 weeks, but when the birth of a baby takes places before 37 weeks of gestation, it is called premature birth. These babies are called premature babies and the problem with premature labor is that the baby and his body organs are not fully developed. This means that the child may not be able to function and sustain life without medical support. There can be many factors that can result in a premature birth and it is not always possible to find out the exact one. But we list the most common reasons for  a premature delivery, check them out

  • Pregnancy-related disorders

Preeclampsia, HELLP syndrome, and genital infections can result in premature birth. All of these disorders develop after the 20th week and need to be treated as soon as possible.

  • Pregnancy history

The previous premature birth, past abortion or miscarriage, can increase the risk of having a premature birth. To avoid all this, focus on adopting a healthy lifestyle. The previous history contributes a lot to premature birth. Before planning your next child take some time and think.

  • Stress

No doubt that stress can harm your body. But have you ever wondered it can cause premature birth too? Stress increases the release of a hormone called corticotrophin; this further induces estriol and prostaglandins, which are the two makers of preterm delivery.

  • Alcohol and cigarettes

Drinking alcohol and smoking can be poisonous for both you and your baby. If you wish to have a healthy delivery, you must quit both these habity. Smoking is linked to low birth weight, placental problems, and death. As far as drinking is concerned consuming more than one drink per day is linked to preterm delivery.
