This condition is called Edema and happens because body produces more fluids to sustain the developing baby. It is a normal condition but can be little uncomfortable so here are some ways to reduce edema during pregnancy.
Wear comfortable shoes
Wearing a pair of comfy shoes can help you to a great extent. A pair of soft shoes will keep your feet comfortable and happy. You can walk around with ease without any pain.
Saltwater soak
Use a bucket, add some hot water and salt in it and soak your feet. Salts are magic for swelling as they help to relax your muscles and relieves pain and swelling.
Stay hydrated
The sodium amount present in the body is also a cause of swelling so drink as much water as you can to flush out all the toxins from the body. You can even go for lemon water or cucumber water.
Healthy diet
Try to eat healthily and take foods that are rich in vitamins, iron, and minerals. Eat a lot of fruits and vegetables and avoid junk and salty food. Include foods rich in antioxidants and potassium.
Drink less caffeine
Caffeine is a diuretic, which means it increases the amount of fluid you eliminate through urine. However, it also causes dehydration, which makes your kidneys hang onto more excess fluid.
Exercise regularly
Regular exercise optimizes the circulatory system so that excess water doesn’t pool in the legs or hands.
Sleep on your left side
Sleeping on the left side decreases the pressure on your veins which carries blood from the lower part of the body. Also, try to sleep on a comfortable bed and position.
